Mustangs Champions League Brings Players Together

Champions1 Champions2

Cardiff Soccer League celebrates our Mustangs Champions League players and volunteers, who are coming together each Saturday to play soccer.  Organized by Canyon Crest student, Quincy Erturk, the program is co-sponsored by the Cardiff Mustangs soccer league and TOPSoccer, a La Jolla-based outreach program for young athletes with disabilities. Quincy also worked with Cal South, the California State Soccer Association, which donated the goal nets, balls and training equipment.

Champions3The program provides special needs children with the opportunity to experience and learn soccer skills by being paired with Cardiff Mustangs players. There is still room in in the program. For more information, see the Champions League page on our website.

The Union-Tribune featured the program in a recent article.  http://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/news/2016/feb/03/champions-league-soccer-for-special-needs/

Thank You, Cardiff Soccer Families

Cardiff Soccer Families,

We hope all of our players improved their skills this year, made new friends and tighter friendships with old ones, and had the joy of bonding with a team and learning one of the most important lessons soccer has to teach: You cannot do it alone.

That’s true for those of us on the Cardiff Soccer League board, and we want to thank all the people who help make it possible for us to provide our kids with the best possible soccer experience. We’re a nonprofit, which means we depend on many people to help the machine run smoothly, from coaches to team parents, generous sponsors, team fans, and field space from the Cardiff School District and the City of Encinitas. Our competitive program has grown substantially over the past few years, and we’re increasingly offering our recreational players skills clinics with professional coaches. We hope to integrate the two even more next year.

Here’s to a happy holiday season, and thanks for playing the beautiful game with us.

Jon Cohen
President
Cardiff Soccer League

Thanks for a Great Year of Camps and Clinics

The Cardiff Mustangs would like to thank all of our competitive and recreational coaches for the time and effort they put into our camps and clinics for 2015. From futsal to Free Fridays to our summer camps, players of all ages and levels had the opportunity to learn and develop their skills in a fun and engaging environment. This year, more Mustang, recreational Cardiff soccer, and other club players attended the trainings than ever before. We look forward to seeing everyone on the pitch again next year!

Mustang Champions League Announced

The Cardiff Mustangs Champions League is a soccer program designed for special needs athletes AGES 5-18, of all ability levels, to participate in the joy of playing soccer. Cardiff Soccer League is pleased to offer this program in conjunction with US Youth Soccer’s TOPSoccer (The Outreach Program for Soccer). Our Mustang Champions athletes will be coached soccer skills according to their ability and needs, and players will have volunteer partners available to assist and encourage them.

Players will be coached the basic skills of soccer according to their ability, not age, and all activities will be catered specific to the abilities of the players. The idea is to create situations where every player will have the opportunity to shine. The TOPSoccer and Mustangs Champions League operate based on the mission to “bring soccer to players who refuse to let their challenges stop them from playing the sport they love. The emphasis of this program is on development, training, and providing meaningful participation rather than on competition.

For more information, please see our Mustang Champions Information Page.
